Why Choose LED Tri-Proof Lights for Industrial Lighting

The majority of people are well-acquainted with LED tri-proof luminaries. These lights are incredibly versatile, solid and waterproof, and it’s these qualities that make them useful in a copious amount of ways. Since they can be used for various reasons, manufacturers have developed an array of tri-proof light designs to fit into most projects.

However, buying this lighting option means wading through the different versions available to find the best, most cost-effective one. With so many on the market, how can you find the right one for your project and situation that will best meet your needs and give you the most bang for your buck?

Why Should You Consider Tri-Proof Lights?

Tri-proof stands for three things:

  • Corrosion-proof
  • Dust-proof
  • Waterproof

To keep them from becoming damaged and meeting industry standards, they are manufactured with special corrosion-proof silicone sealing rings and materials. Where the cable is, the manufacturer has installed waterproof PG connectors, ensuring that water and dust cannot enter.

LED tri-proof lights are also designed to weather high-pressure situations. The typical IP ratings of tri-proof lights include IP65 and IP66, but some manufacturers have designed them to be IP68 and IP69.

There is a multitude of reasons to consider tri-proof lights:

  • Anti-glare properties These lights have a low UGR and comprise a milky diffuser, so soft, warm light is produced. These lights are ideal for parking lots, as it improves driver safety.
  • Maintenance-free – Due to their heavy-duty nature, these lights can withstand a variety of harsh atmospheric conditions and won’t need much, if any, maintenance.
  • IP-65 waterproof – If you install these lights in places where water is a concern, you want lighting with an IP-65 rating.
  • Extended lifespan – These lights can work for more than 50,000 hours.
  • High-efficiency – The light output begins at 130lm/W.

Best of all, these lights are easy to install, with little to no effort with simple wiring.

Since tri-proof lights were developed to withstand even the most demanding conditions, they are ideal for outdoor areas including but not limited to: parking lots, garages, warehouse lighting, outdoor settings, supermarkets, commercial entities, etc.

How Do You Install These Lights?

You have two key ways in which to install tri-proof fixtures:

  • Walls using the provided hardware kit
  • Ceilings using hanging kits

How Can You Know These Lights Will Work After Installation?

When you’ve bought the tri-proof lights, it’s only natural to make sure they work as the manufacturer described. You can conduct a series of tests to see if the lights will hold up as you hope. Most LED manufacturers have already conducted these to make sure the standards are met, including impact resistance and ingress progression. However, you can do further tests to ensure they hold up:

  • Apply water to fixture to ensure it doesn’t become water damaged
  • Submerge it briefly in shallow water for no more than five minutes
  • Connect the light to an outlet to ensure it turns on
  • Use a photometer to check its intensity
  • Take a pendulum impact tester to determine its impact resistance

Always read the manufacturer’s testing parameters before you do any tests yourself for two reasons:

  • Better determine the light’s credibility in specifications
  • You won’t accidentally damage the light fixture

Remember…

There are many benefits to buying LED tri-proof lights, but the most important one is enjoying a bright light for less money. They are an eco-friendly option and highly durable and won’t have you needlessly replacing them every couple of years. If you need a great LED light fixture for your area – wherever that may be – you can feel confident that an LED tri-proof light is the best option and bang for your buck.
